Frequently Asked Questions
About Lessons
I have no musical experience, can I still learn an instrument?
Absolutely. Learning music is no different than learning a new language, sport, or hobby. All that matters is the amount of time you put into it!
Where do lessons take place?
I teach out of my studio at 2027 Broadway in downtown Boulder.
What does an average lesson look like?
Every lesson is unique and tailored toward every student’s unique goals. Typically, we’ll spend the first half covering a new music theory concept and then in the second half we’ll learn a song to add to our repertoire.
What age groups do you teach?
I teach all age groups, from children to adults. I have over 18 years of experience in music education, including teaching young children as young as 5, so I can adapt my teaching style to suit the needs of students of any age.
Are you a mean music teacher like that guy in "Whiplash"?
Not unless you’re rushing or dragging!
Should I take 30 minute or 60 minute lessons?
I recommend 30-minute lesson for absolute beginners of any instrument, as well as for students under 13 years old.
For adult students and those with some experience on their instrument, I recommend 60-minute lessons.
Do you offer online lessons?
Yes, I offer online lessons via Skype. Online lessons are conducted just like in-person sessions, with the added convenience of learning from your home.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
How do I pay for lessons?
Payment can be made via cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo. Payment is typically due at the start of each month for scheduled lessons.
How do I schedule a lesson?
You can schedule a lesson by contacting me directly through the contact form on my website below. I offer both weekday and weekend slots to accommodate different schedules and I’ll work with you to find a time that fits.
